Myanmar known as Golden land is abundant with natural environment with tropical weather conditions, fertile oil and plenty of foods. Fish and Seafood are very popular and plenty in Myanmar because the country has many large rivers, an extensive coastline and a number of port cities. National dish of Mohinga (rice noodles in fish soup) is an essential part of traditional cuisine and mostly served as breakfast. The main condiment of country dishes called fish paste (ngapi) is a source of protein and iodine made by fermented fish that is salted. Ngapi is not only the main ingredient for lower regions of Myanmar but also use the whole regions as a main ingredient in cooking. It is used in a wide array of dishes and eaten in many different ways such as baked nagapi, a watery preparation called Ngapi Yay, as a salad and also used as a soup base in some dishes. Rakhine national dish of Rakhine Montdi is mainly prepared with fish paste and fish.
One of the most popular foods of tomato fish curry is very simple and to make with very delicate taste which is great with fish. Myanmar is rich in sea fishes and freshwater fishes and every fish can use in tomato fish curry. Besides the main ingredients of fish, it also included chopped tomato, onion, garlic, chili powder, green chili, fresh coriander and turmeric powder. Fish crackers from coastline cities are made from fish and spices that serve as flavoring for snack. Dry fish is commonly used to prepared for Myanmar traditional food such as fried dry fish with chili and onion called dry fish Balaungchaung Kyaw and also prepared as a dry fish curry too.
As fish is a really nutritious food, being rich in protein, vitamins and minerals which are essential to maintain good health, Myanmar people love to eat fish and becomes essential one part of Myanmar daily food style.
