Wine is considered to be one of the traditional drinks that became symbols of many countries. Wine is a popular and important beverage that accompanies and enhances a wide range of cuisines, occasion and ceremony.

When we heard a word of “Wine”, we firstly see the red beautiful liquid in our eyes. Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grapes and Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes. Generally there are 4 kinds of wines such as Red wine, White wine, Rose wine (or) Pink Wine and Sparkling wine. Red wine is produced from dark red grape and fermented together with grapes including skin and seeds.  White Wines are produced from Light Green grapes.

Red wines are saved in dark green bottles or Black bottle because it can improve wine quality and wine age. Red wine is not only red colour, it can be brown, deep violet, ruby red or light red. The color is determined by the length of time that the grape skin is in contact with the liquid.

Generally, wine colour represent the age of wines. Vintage also plays an important factor in the color of a wine. The older a white wine is, the darker its color will be. The opposite is true for red wines which get lighter with age. Young wines also tend to be more translucent and bright in color, while older wines will start to dull.

Wines labels are important sources of information for wine lovers. It is labeled by grape variety, indication of types, geographic origin, how to store the wine with suitable temperature and the percentage of Alcoholic volume.

In fine restaurants in Western countries, wine typically accompanies with dinner. Wine is important in cuisine not just for its value as a beverage, but also as a flavor agent for western dishes.

To get the best taste from wine you should keep in Wine cooler with 17 °C during 1 hour before you drink. Mostly red wines are stored in room temperature and they are the best match with meat dishes. Firstly should need to choose the right shape of wine glass. White wine glasses and red wine glasses are very different. Red wine glasses are short and wide, and have a bowl type shape. White wine glasses are tall and cylinder glasses. The white wine does not need a lot of air to touch the wine; however, red wine has a much better tasting experience when it makes contact with the air and well sends the aroma to the nose. Then swill the wine in glass for actual oxidation process to increase wine flavour, then smell the wine and drink it slowly.

As famous saying of ‘Japan sake, French for wine, Scott for Whisky and Russia for Vodka’, wines produced from French are so famous around the world for its nice and unique smell.

Red wines help for health and digestion. Some studies found that drinking small amount of red wine per day can prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, early death and reduce the cholesterol in blood.

In Myanmar, not only available to get the local wines but also can available the wines from aboard. Local wines are especially produced from Pyin Oo Lwin and Taungyi.
